(1832-34) C. Bechtler $2.50 Gold MS 75 GR, with Star, K-9 Values

Details

The Kagin-9 was issued around the same time as the Kagin-1 gold dollar was introduced and is the only quarter eagle of its type. The obverse closely resembles that of the K-1 gold dollar, while the reverse is like those found on Bechtler’s earlier quarter eagles. The rarity of this variety points to the overwhelming popularity of Bechtler’s innovative new denomination, the gold dollar. Of fewer than ten known pieces, six are in private hands. The average example grades XF, with one example graded AU.
