The Union Bank of Scotland series of Scotland in the World Currency contains 0 distinct entries.

The Union Bank of Scotland (UBS) was founded in May 1843 from a reconstitution of the Glasgow Union Banking Company, itself founded in 1830. It opened for business on 1 July 1843 with head offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, each issuing separate notes until 1858. In 1843, shortly after foundation, the Union Bank of Scotland then absorbed two additional note-issuing banks: Hunters and Company of Ayr, founded in 1773; and the Glasgow and Ship Bank, founded in 1836. Coverage of these banks’ notes may be added in the future.

“P” preceding a signature title stands for “pro,” meaning the signatory is acting on behalf of the actual official who holds that title.
