Because coins were hoarded, the Nederlansche Indische Civil Administrative (NICA) issued two treasury notes featuring both Dutch and Indonesian text. Unlike other NICA issues, these notes bear the name Indonesia. These remained in circulation until 1951, when Indonesia issued its first coins.
