This half dollar honors the 200th birth anniversary of Daniel Boone, a pioneer and explorer who helped settle the land on the western side of the Appalachian Mountains that was then part of Virginia and is now known as Kentucky. The Boone half dollar, designed by Augustus Lukeman, was minted for five years, and the first issues from 1934 were struck only at the Philadelphia Mint. Remaining issues were struck until 1938 at Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco mints.

This coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper and has a current melt value of $25.09
