The obverse of this ground-breaking medal was designed in collaboration by the Chief Engravers of the United States Mint (Joseph Menna) and The Royal Mint (Gordon Summers), a first of its kind design by the Chief Engravers of two of the largest mints in the world. Lady Liberty and Britannia have appeared for years on coins of their respective nations; however, this is the first time they appear together, recognizing the long relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. The reverse design was created by the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, as a complement to the obverse.

Obverse Description

Allegorical Liberty and Britannia are depicted in stoic profile portraits featuring complementary and balancing elements suggestive of the faces on a playing card. Their appearance identifies each figure; Liberty carries a torch and is adorned with stars, while Britannia wields a trident and wears a Corinthian helmet. Inscriptions are "LIBERTY" and "2024."

Reverse Description

The sun rises over the Atlantic Ocean, framed by two shores with a Great Basin Bristlecone Pine tree in the west and an English Yew tree in the east, representing both nations and heralding new possibilities for their mutual friendship now and going forward. The inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "LIBERTY AND BRITANNIA."
