1907 (2026) Double Eagle Best of the Mint Medal SP Silver Values

Details

Designed as a companion to the iconic 1907 $20 gold coin, this medal offers a dramatic and artful reinterpretation of Saint-Gaudens’ original vision. Liberty strides forward with renewed purpose, her torch blazing—now seen through the artist’s own distinctive style. The eagle’s powerful wings are transformed into a flowing American flag, creating a bold, modern expression of strength and national pride.

The Semiquincentennial Best of the Mint series concludes with a triumph of American artistry and innovation. The 5th and final coin in this collector-chosen series—a reissue of the 1907 Saint-Gaudens High Relief $20 Gold Coin, struck in one ounce 99.99% fine gold with high relief detail—just as visionary sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens originally intended. President Theodore Roosevelt believed the greatest Nation in the world deserved the most artistic coins. As part of a bold initiative to elevate American coinage, he commissioned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens to energize U.S. coins. The artist’s famous 1907 “Double Eagle” ($20 gold coin) design is widely regarded as the most beautiful U.S. coin ever struck. Only 12,000 coins of its high relief version were briefly produced for general circulation. Today, it remains a legend in numismatic history for its artistry, craftsmanship, and ambition.

Now, more than a century later, the reissue of one of the most celebrated designs in numismatic history returns to inspire a new generation of collectors. The Best of the Mint Silver Companion Medal to the 1907 Saint-Gaudens High Relief $20 Gold Coin features a design that reimagines elements of the historic coin. The obverse displays a new view of Saint-Gaudens’ Liberty carrying a torch and an olive branch, as 13 stars represent the original colonies that became the United States. The reverse depicts the eagle’s wings as an American flag in a new vision of strength and pride soaring above the Sun, which represents the aspirations of a hopeful nation.

With this final release scheduled in 2026, the Semiquincentennial Best of the Mint series stands complete—five timeless designs, each a tribute to our shared story, our values, and our enduring legacy.
