1885-CC One Dollar MS Values

Details

This popular Carson City Morgan dollar is not necessarily rare, but it is much scarcer than other dates -- extreme demand for this date pushes premiums up for any specimens on the market. They are widely available through at least MS66 and become very scarce in MS67, with a tiny number known above that -- pieces that are extremely rare and draw stunning premiums. PLs and DMPLs are somewhat scarce. Gems prove are much scarcer but can be had for a price.

up This coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper and has a current melt value of $67.22

Obverse: Portrait of Liberty centered. On the left are found 7 stars with the words E*PLURIBUS*UNUM followed by 6 stars on the right. The date is positioned at the bottom.

Reverse: The heraldic eagle is centered holding a bunch of arrows and branch surrounded by and olive leaves. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears above the letters DO of DOLLAR.
