Heritage’s Modern Collectible U.S. Coins & Bullion Showcase Auction Realizes More Than $400,000, Led by Coveted V75 Gold Eagles

Exceptional modern U.S. coins and bullion issues continued to demonstrate their enduring appeal among collectors as Heritage’s July 6 Modern Collectible U.S. Coins & Bullion Showcase Auction realized $400,572.
The top lot in the auction, the 2020-W G$50 One Ounce Gold Eagle, V75 Privy, PR70 Ultra Cameo NGC, realized $21,350. One of only 1,945 examples struck, the coin bears the special V75 privy mark issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. This example was further distinguished as a First Day of Issue specimen, making it an especially desirable offering for collectors of modern U.S. Gold Eagles.

Another example of the same celebrated issue, a 2020-W G$50 One Ounce Gold Eagle, V75 Privy, PR70 Ultra Cameo NGC, certified First Releases, realized $20,740. With a mintage capped at just 1,945 pieces, the V75 Gold Eagle has become one of the defining modern rarities of the American Eagle series and continues to rank among the most sought-after contemporary U.S. Mint issues.
A complete 1995-W Five-Piece American Eagle Proof Set, certified PR70 Ultra Cameo NGC, reached $19,520. The set included the key-date 1995-W Silver Eagle, graded PR70 Ultra Cameo, along with matching tenth-ounce, quarter-ounce, half-ounce and one-ounce gold American Eagles, each certified PR70 Ultra Cameo. Complete flawless sets anchored by the legendary 1995-W Silver Eagle remain among the premier modern U.S. coin collecting achievements.
Collectors also pursued a singular 1995-W American Silver Eagle, PR70 Deep Cameo PCGS, which realized $12,810. Long recognized as the cornerstone rarity of the Proof Silver Eagle series, the 1995-W continues to command strong prices in the finest certified grades and remains a centerpiece of elite American Silver Eagle Registry Sets.
Rounding out the auction’s top performers was a 2016-P $200 Tuvalu Two-Ounce Gold Pearl Harbor 75th Anniversary, certified PR70 Deep Cameo PCGS with the Michael Reagan Signature, which realized $8,540. The commemorative gold issue honors the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, combining historical significance with exceptional presentation quality. Also attracting strong collector interest was the 2024 $1 Flowing Hair Dollar, One-Ounce Gold, High Relief, 230th Anniversary, PR70 Deep Cameo PCGS, which realized $7,930. Celebrating the 230th anniversary of America’s first silver dollar, the modern high-relief gold tribute reflects continued enthusiasm for contemporary interpretations of iconic classic U.S. coin designs.
