1860 Clark, Gruber & Co. $2.50 Gold MS K-1 Values

Details

Like most of the California private gold issues after 1849, the Clark, Gruber & Company $2 1/2 gold pieces were designed in imitation of the standard U.S. gold coins in circulation at the time. Today, there are around 100 examples in private hands, the vast majority of which grade AU. The finest known examples grade gem mint state, and in order to be considered condition census, an 1860 Clark Gruber quarter eagle would have to be a strictly original choice BU.
