(1842-52) A.Bechtler One Dollar Gold MS 27 GR, 21C, RE, K-25 Values

Details

The Kagin-25 A. Bechtler gold dollars were struck using a coarsely reeded collar. They appear to have been struck from the earliest state of the 27.g. 21.c. dies, and are extremely rare, with fewer than five confirmed examples. It is likely that the coarsely reeded collar used during striking may have led to ejection issues, explaining its abandonment early in the life of the dies. A pair of coins – one graded MS60 and another graded AU58 – vie for finest known honors.

Obverse: 27.G. 21.C. CAROLINA GOLD.

Reverse: 1 DOL: * A. BECHTLER.
