This pattern, or experimental, item was one of a number of issues struck by the US Mint to determine alternate metals for minting of coins to preserve copper, tin, and nickel for the war effort.

Obverse: The obverse design is a reproductionof the Columbian two-centavo.

Reverse: The reverse is copied from a Washington medal (Baker 155).
