1923-S One Cent MS RD Values

Details

The San Francisco Mint produced the only branch-mint offering for the one-cent coin in 1923, and it was a relatively low-mintage issuance at that, with fewer than 9 million S-mint pennies struck that year. Still, it is not considered a semi-key date and is a common coin, especially in the circulated grades. Fully Red 1923-S Lincoln cents are scarce in all Mint States grades, and in MS65 is a rarity. Locating a nice example with rich color and few or no carbon spots is a true challenge for even the most seasoned of collectors and dealers.

Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portrait and the date and mintmark (If any) positioned on the right side.

Reverse: Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter.
