1909 Lincoln One Cent PR RD Matte Finish Values

Details

The proof 1909 Lincoln cent is scarce in an absolute sense, as only a fraction of the pieces minted are known to exist. 1909 proof Lincoln cents were made with a matte finish, and at first glance they may appear very similar to a nice uncirculated business strike. Matte proofs are physically different from business strikes in that the former feature squared-off rims, very strong strike and fine details, and granular fields.

Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portait and the date postioned on the right side.

Reverse: Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter. Deisgner's initials of V.D.B. have been removed.
