1855 Cent. The alloys used in this pattern are not confirmed. Testing of these pieces has shown that most if not all described as J-170, J-171, and J-171 a are actually J-170a. Struck in various copper, nickel, zinc alloys.
Obverse Description
Eagle flying to the left, stars around, motif as used in 1854, but date 1855 below.
Reverse Description
Wreath as used on J-165 of 1854 with four leaves under E (in STATES).
