The Kagin-12a is the most plentiful 1852 U.S. Assay Office issue, with approximately 200 examples known in private hands, 95 of which were recovered from the S.S. Central America. There are around 10 examples known in choice mint state, and average quality pieces are generally seen in XF or AU condition.
