1852 Moffat & Co. 10 Dollar Gold SP Wide Date, K-9 Values

Details

The Wide Date 1852 Moffat $10 is the first of two varieties of emergency issue gold eagles struck by Moffat & Company in January and February of 1852. Fewer than 30 examples exist in private hands, with two or three mint state specimens known. Original choice AU examples would be considered a part of the condition census. Eight Wide Date $10s were recovered from the S.S. Central America. A pair of specially-made, proof Kagin-9 eagles are known.
