Details

"Penny Whimsy" by Dr. William H. Sheldon is the established die variety classification of the United States large cents produced betewen 1793 and 1814. There are 295 distinct Sheldon varieties, or die pairings.

Obverse: Lady Liberty, facing right, with wild, flowing. Hair. The word LIBERTY at the top periphery and the date across the bottom.

Reverse: The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA frame the outer periphery of the coin with 13 chains linked in a circle inside the lettering. The denomination of ONE CENT and the fraction 1/100 appear in the center of the chain.
